Nature Day Camp

Nature Day Camp at The Yakima Area Arboretum. Summer 2018 & 2019

Back in 2018, Ralphie and I had a great time with the Yakima Arboretum for their Nature Day Camp. These week-long camps are at the heart of their mission to provide a place of wonder and exploration for the community, and truly….they do it so well. If you’re not a regular visitor to this free, inspiring and relaxing space that is so close to home, you’re missing out.
This summer we made a shorter, simpler video highlighting the expansion of their camps and the unique opportunity their staff saw to close some gaps in Yakima and create a special opportunity for both homeless kids living at Camp Hope and for Spanish speaking kids through a partnership with La Casa Hogar

Working with Jheri, Garrett, Jen and the rest of the YAA team was a tremendous experience. Their level of passion for their work, their hospitality, and trust for me to come in and help tell the story through the lens of the kids made me consider how much I truly love my job.  I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to contribute in a small way to such a great benefit for the Yakima community.
It’s a big deal. Kids are at risk of losing their awe. And we’ll reap a sad consequence some day when they take for granted the important practice and pleasure of getting outside and simply being forced to explore.
Besides having happy clients who liked the images I captured, I’m stoked this video played a small role in helping raise $5000 more than last year’s haul at their end of the season “Autumn Bounty” event.
